DIGESTIVE UPSETS AND CRAMPS; YOUR IRON
Eating too much, or food that causes the pancreas to go on strike, can result in abdominal cramps. A hot shower will help dispel the cramps if you remain under it for 10-15 minutes until the stomach area becomes bright red. If you have no shower you can achieve the same result by applying hot moist compresses. Follow up by applying a poultice of chopped raw onion or pulped cabbage on the stomach. The fermentation will cease, the cramps will subside, and you will be back to your usual self. Be sure to chew your food thoroughly, allowing it to become well mixed with saliva. If these simple suggestions do not help you must see your doctor, for there is a possibility of a perforation of the stomach, the presence of gallstones, or perhaps an inflammation of the appendix.
It is astonishing to realise the things you can do with an ordinary domestic iron. Neuralgic and rheumatic aches and pains resulting from a chill can be alleviated by rubbing the affected parts with St John’s wort oil. Or, if you would rather, soak a cloth in the oil and cover with this. Then cover the oiled skin or cloth with a dry cloth and gently iron over with an iron at its lowest setting, for example ‘synthetic fibres’. This procedure is quite easy to do. The heat from the iron will thin the oil, making absorption easier. The effect of this simple treatment is so good that the pain is eased almost immediately. Take care, however, not to have the iron too hot, as you do not want to burn the skin.
