NATURE DOCTOR – SITZ BATHS
Sitz baths (hip baths) relax the abdomen and relieve congestions, к is helpful if infusions of herbs such as hay flowers, camomile or juniper leaves are added to the water. The temperature of the bath should not rise above 37 °C (98.6 °F), so as not to make the blood rash to the head. Since the patient should remain in the bath for half an hour, she should maintain the required temperature by adding hot water. These hip baths will do much to relieve the cramps and if they are continued over a period of time even the leucorrhoea may be cured. It stands to reason that every woman should give the best possible care to her abdomen, rather than letting congestions, irritations and inflammations linger and so endanger the vital organs it contains. Even the smallest upsets can,
in time, develop into bigger and more serious ones. So do not neglect these early signs of trouble if you want to avoid ending up on the operating table. Rather than suffer such unpleasant consequences of neglect, it is simpler to take good care of yourself.
When it comes to the care of plants we use much more common sense than is often exercised towards our body. If a tree in your garden produces a shoot that you can see will grow in the wrong direction, you are not likely to wait until it is a branch as thick as your arm before sawing it off. Rather, you will remove it immediately – yes, ‘nip it in the bud’. Because you know that ‘big oaks from little acorns grow’. The same principle applies to pain. It should never be merely palliated but rather accepted for what it a, nature’s early warning system. Therefore, it is essential to treat
the cause of the pain before it can develop into something more serious.
