FOODS FOR MMUNE: THE IDEA OF A GOOD BREAKFAST
My idea of a good breakfast is a whole-grain cereal, a glass of skim (nonfat) milk and a fresh fruit. Whole-grain cereal has generous amounts of complex carbohydrates, which give you a steady stream of energy throughout the morning. Skim milk is a good source of calcium, an important nutrient. You can drink it or pour it over your cereal. Any fresh fruit is fine. You can eat it whole or slice it into your cereal.
CEREALS
Oat bran
Oatmeal (my favorite is Irish oatmeal)
Whole-grain cereal—look for a 5- or 7-grain cereal
Rice, barley, kasha, couscous or other grains from the pot of grains you keep in the refrigerator.
Corn meal
You can eat the grains or cereals plain, with your skim milk or with fruit, cinnamon, raisins, a few sunflower seeds, a little fruit juice, or low-fat yogurt. Use your imagination, but keep it healthy.
